Prior to the Easter long weekend, BSC Prestons received a call from Benedict Industries Plant’s Site Maintenance Fitter Farrell Gosche at 3:00pm on Thursday regarding a breakdown of their Vibrating Screens. Farrell required an urgent supply of vibrating screen bearings due to being supplied the incorrect bearing from the Original Equipment Manufacturer and it not fitting the Vibrating Screen.
There was limited information supplied to Account Manager John Perri, as he had no part number to go off and only rough measurements that the site could provide. Due to COVID-19, John and the BSC Prestons team could not conduct a site visit to inspect the issue and identify the correct part number. John worked closely with Alan Philips our Application Engineering Manager and was able to use the information they had to deduce the correct shaker screen bearings for Benedict Industries application – Schaeffler’s FAG T41D bearings.
John then worked closely with our Premium Partner Schaeffler to source the bearings after quickly identifying the correct part. With the assistance of Schaeffler’s State Manager Greg Peck and Customer Support Chris Garrihy, BSC and Schaeffler were able to get the bearing picked as a priority for Benedict Industries. The bearings were ready to be picked up at 4:00pm and the team took the necessary precautions abiding by social distancing rules, allowing Benedict Industries to pick up the parts by 4:30pm the same day.
The teamwork and quick turnaround conducted by our BSC Prestons team in conjunction with our Premium Partner Schaeffler meant that Benedict Industries had their plant up and running again by 8:30pm that evening. With the added stress of the four-day Easter long weekend, it meant that providing a solution to our customer as quickly as possible was pivotal to keep them operational.
Benedict Industries Group Operations Manager Brett Jarvis was extremely impressed with how quick the BSC team could identify the bearings and source them. Due to the quick response provided by BSC there was a significant reduction in downtime which resulted in huge savings for Benedict Industries.
John agreed with Brett as he said, “they were rapped that we were able to get them out of trouble so quickly, as their lost production was costing them plenty.” Brett was so satisfied with the Service that the BSC Prestons team provided as he sent a thank you email on the Tuesday following the Easter long weekend to express his gratitude to the team.
At BSC, we understand the importance of keeping our customers’ machines operating. In this case, it was extremely important to quickly provide solutions to our customer to ensure their recycling plant remained operational during the public holiday. Our teams are prepared to go above and beyond to provide reliable service to keep your plant operational. Our customers can rely on us to get critical parts to their plants promptly. “Although we have such a large outlet of branches across the country, the security of knowing we have the distribution centre in Chullora is fantastic. If a branch doesn’t have it, you know it can be easily sourced from the DC,” said John.
